Hiring has always been a process that depends on building trust.
Every resume reviewed, interview conducted, reference checked, and credential verified is essentially an investment by employers in getting sufficient confidence to make high-takes decisions about who to hire. Across Australia, New Zealand and South-East Asia, this hiring process consumes billions of dollars in time, effort and cost each year.
But today, the challenge is becoming even harder.
AI is reshaping the employment ecosystem at an extraordinary pace. Candidates can generate tailored applications in minutes, job application volumes keep rising, and employers are finding it tough to distinguish authentic information from AI-optimized content that may or may not be accurate. At the same time, fake documents and increasingly sophisticated scams are raising the stakes for everyone.
The result is a growing trust challenge.
As the world goes digital, we need to re-think how trusted information is created, shared and reused across the entire employment journey. The traditional model of background checks on preferred candidates just before offer is no longer sufficient. Employers need trusted information upfront to cut through the AI-driven noise and make great decisions early in the process – for example, who to shortlist and interview.
Over the past decade, SEEK Pass has been shifting trust earlier in the hiring process with verified identity and credentials that are re-usable across job applications. Today, over 25% of the Australian and New Zealand workforce has a SEEK Pass verified credential, and among active job seekers it’s closer to 65%. Pre-verification is now the new norm on SEEK.
At this year’s Digital Trust Hui, SEEK Pass will share key lessons and insights from its experience so far, including:
Rather than focusing on the technology, we’ll explore the practical lessons about what it takes to scale trust across millions of people and to shift established norms.
